Clarinda Community School District
A Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of Clarinda Community School District was held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, beginning at 5:00 PM in the McKinley Boardroom.
1. Call to Order
Vice President Hayes called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
3. Roll Call
The following Board members were present: Vice President Hayes, Boysen, and Sunderman. Absent: President Butt and Wyman.
4. Public Comment
Vice President Hayes welcomed all visitors to the meeting.
5. Approval of Agenda
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0.
6. Consent Agenda Items
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the consent agenda items. Motion carried 3-0.

Hires: Andy Johnson, Boys 7/8 Basketball Coach, effective the 2026-2027 school year
Karen McClarnon, elementary special education teacher, effective the 2026-2027 school year
Jane Mayer, 7/8 social studies teacher, effective the 2026-2027 school year
Jen Wyman, 4-6 Secretary, effective the 2026-27 school year
Transfers: Tara Schmidt, 4-6 Secretary to Administrative Assistant/Accounts Payable, effective the 2026-2027 school year
Resignations: none
7. Recognition and Reports
7.1 Administrator Report
Mrs. Ehlers thanked the summer staff for all the hard work preparing for a new year and the administrative assistants for the hard work on registration. Staff pre-service
professional learning was done the week before school started. All went well for the Meet the Teacher, Preschool Parent Night, and PTA Back to School Bash. The first
week of school has included school pictures, welcome back assemblies, and getting into a routine. Mr. Cox thanked the summer help for all their hard work. Staff
professional development occurred the week before school. Homerooms are going over student handbooks in class. A Pep Assembly will be Friday morning. The Cardinal
Online program has 50 students, and the Cardinal Flight Online Program has 209 students.

Hayes complimented the online programs.
8. New Business
8.1 Discuss and Consider Approving the Google Renewal Quote
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve Google Renewal for $23,646.60. Motion carried 3-0.
8.2 Discuss and Consider Approving the Student Transportation Agreement
A motion was made by Sunderman, seconded by Boysen, to approve the student transportation agreement with Stanton. Motion carried 3-0.
8.3 Discuss and Consider Approving the School Fundraisers
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the 2026-2027 district fundraisers. Motion carried 3-0.
8.4 Discuss and Consider Approving the First Reading of Student Policies and Regulations
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the first reading and waive the second reading of policies 503.1 (Student Conduct), 503.11 (Disruptive
Behavior), 503.11R1 and 503.11R2. Motion carried 3-0.
9. Meeting Announcements
9.1 A regular meeting will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at McKinley.
9.2 A work session will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Jr/Sr High.
9.3 A regular meeting will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at McKinley.
10. Adjournment
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to adjourn the meeting at 5:20 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
