Clarinda Community School District

 

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of Clarinda Community School District was held Wednesday, July 8, 2026, beginning at 5:00 PM in the McKinley Boardroom.

 

1. Call to Order
President Butt called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

3. Roll Call
The following Board members were present: President Butt, Vice President Hayes, Boysen, Sunderman and Wyman.

4. Public Comment
No visitors were in attendance.

5. Approval of Agenda
A motion was made by Wyman, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the agenda. Motion carried 5-0.  

6. Consent Agenda Items
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Wyman, to approve the consent agenda items. Motion carried 5-0.

6.1 Approve Minutes of the June 24, 2026 Regular Meeting
6.2 Approve Bills

6.3 Approve Open Enrollment Requests for the 2026-2027 School Year
          Open Enrollment into the district: 0
    
      Open Enrollment out of the district: 0
6.4 Approve Hires, Transfers, and Resignations
          Hires: none
    
      Transfers: none
          Resignations: 
none        

7. Recognition and Report
7.1 Maintenance Report
         There will be a district tour in September for the Board.

7.2 Finance Report
        Mrs. McKinnon compared the year-to-year fuel and nutrition expenses. Central Office has started the end of the fiscal year process.

7.3 Superintendent Report
         Mr. Privia said Rogge is working on getting the panels for the auditorium tower. Open Ed representatives would like to come in September for a work session to discuss the
         program.

7.4 Board Correspondence
         Wyman thanked the Clarinda Foundation, the Cardinal Fund, Agriland, and the community for supporting the matching grant for the District.

8. New Business
8.1 Discuss and Consider Approving Resolution to Transfer Excess Home School Assistance Program (HSAP) Funds to the School Flexibility Fund
A motion was made by Hayes, seconded by Wyman, to approve the resolution to transfer excess home school assistance program funds of $169,000 to the school flexibility
fund. Sunderman – Aye; Hayes – Aye; Boysen – Aye; Wyman – Aye; Butt – Aye. Motion carried 5-0.

8.2 Discuss and Consider Approving Setting a Public Hearing to Expend the Funds in the Flexibility Account
A motion was made by Wyman, seconded by Hayes, to approve setting August 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the McKinley Boardroom for a public hearing to expend the funds in the
flexibility account. Motion carried 5-0.

8.3 Discuss and Consider Approving the Second and Final Reading of Policy 403.6R1
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Sunderman, to approve the second and final reading of policy regulation 403.6R1. Motion carried 5-0.

8.4 Discuss and Consider Approving the 2026-2027 Student Handbooks
A motion was made by Wyman, seconded by Hayes, to approve the Preschool, Garfield Elementary, and Jr/Sr High student handbooks for the 2026-27 school year. Motion carried 5-0.

8.5 Discuss and Consider Approving the FY27 Consortium Agreement with Council Bluffs
A motion was made by Boysen, seconded by Wyman, to approve the FY27 Consortium Agreement with Council Bluffs. Motion carried 5-0.

8.6 Discuss and Consider Approving the Resolution to Set a Public Hearing for Property
A motion was made by Wyman, seconded by Hayes, to approve the resolution to set a public hearing on August 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the McKinley boardroom on the conveyance of Page County Parcel No. 083118012500. Butt – Aye; Hayes – Aye; Boysen – Aye; Wyman –  Aye; Sunderman – Aye. Motion carried 5-0.

8.7 Discuss and Consider Approving the First Reading of Policy Primers Volume 34 -4
A motion was made by Hayes, seconded by Boysen, to approve the first reading of policy primers volume 34-4. Motion carried 5-0.

8.8 Discuss and Consider Approving the First Reading of Policy Primers Volume 34 -5
A motion was made by Hayes, seconded by Boysen, to approve the first reading of policy primers volume 34-5. Motion carried 5-0.

9. Meeting Announcements
     9.1 A regular meeting will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at McKinley.
     9.2 A regular meeting will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at McKinley.

10. Adjournment
A motion was made by Hayes, seconded by Wyman, to adjourn the meeting at 5:18 p.m.  Motion carried 5-0.
